When I was informed that my hair would start falling out in two weeks after I started
my chemo treatments, I knew I needed to get a few wigs.  In my area, we are very
limited to shops we could go to buy them. So I started checking around and found a
company that does mail order. The catalogs are shipped quickly to you, the styles
are very modern and they have a great selection to choose from. I recommend that
you pick a hair style you like, take the catalog to your hair cutter and ask her to
cut/style your hair to match the wig you are ordering. That way, when your hair starts
to fall out, you can easily put on your wig and no one will know the difference! I was
so pleased with the quality of the wigs I bought, that I ordered several. And I
received so many compliments on the "Way I cut my hair" that it really boosted my
moral. No one knew it was a wig!
Product sites and Services:

We know how difficult it can be running between doctor
appointments and trying to get your everyday things done all
in the mere 24 hours we're given. So we've put a few sites
here that you will be able to check out from the privacy of
your own home. If you can't find something you are looking
for, just email me, and I'll try to find it for you.
Wigs, Wig Stands, Eyebrow kits and Supplies:

Beauty Trends is one of the top notch wig companies that I know of. They have a large variety
of wigs for you to choose from. This company even has eyebrows that you can attach or draw
on. Where were they when I needed them? The maintenance is easy. Just wash the wig,
lightly towel dry and place it on a wig stand and lightly comb. They hold the style beautifully. I
highly recommend you order your wig from them. They have over 100 styles of wigs, falls and
3/4 caps to choose from. From short to long, straight to curly, go blonde, brunette or redhead.
They carry brands like Revlon, Adolfo and Beauty Trends. There's something there for every
budget. This company also donates to Breast Cancer charities.

Hats, Scarves and More:

This is a wonderful company to order from if you're looking for hats and scarves to cover your
head. They have several different varieties to choose from and the fall and winter hats have
just started to arrive! Hats are available in women's, mens, teens and children's sizes. Your
items will ship the very next day.  Shopping for someone else and you're not sure what they
might like? Give them a gift certificate from here.

If you've been informed that your chemo treatment will cause you to lose your hair, then you
can expect to lose your eyebrows and eyelashes too. I found a great site for them.
Headcovers unlimited has some of the best looking eyelashes available. Don't purchase any
packages of individual lashes. They need to be attached onto existing lashes and you won't
be able to do that. You need to get the lashes that have the strip already attached to them.
Here you'll find them with a clear strip to make them look more natural. They also carry
eyebrows.

Your skin is going to take a beating whether you have chemo or radiation. Your going to have
to use a rich skin cream just to help retain some moisture and prevent your skin from
sagging. This will be even more noticeable should you lose weight. Philosophy skin care
products come in a variety of choices to choose from. Hope in a jar is a great moisturizer and
you can choose what your skin type is, so you'll have just the right one. I can also
recommend their overall moisturizers. They are blended with antioxidants and natural extracts
that will revitalize your skin leaving you feeling and smelling, BEAUTIFUL!! My favorite is the
Amazing Grace scent and I use it everyday. Talk about feeling like a woman! Treat yourself,
you won't regret it.

Complimentary and Alternative Treatments for Cancer:

Complimentary treatments are often used by patients whose current treatment is no longer
effective. Many patients use them to aid in managing side effects as well. Educate yourself
Complimentary Therapy.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese, energy based therapy that promotes healing and overall wellness. A
Reiki practitioner uses his or her hands to transmit energy to the recipient.

How is Reiki administered?

Many people report feeling a sense of warmth during Reiki sessions. Reiki sessions
generally last for about an hour each.

How does Reiki help cancer patients?

Some cancer patients claim that Reiki has helped with pain management, relaxation, and
side effects of treatment like nausea and stomach upset.

Although there is no scientific data that supports these claims, claims that support Reiki are
overwhelming.

It is important to note that Reiki is not an alternative cancer treatment. It is not used to cure
cancer or in place of treatment. Reiki is a complimentary therapy, used to ease the
emotional and physical side effects of treatment.
